The Whistler Pro58 is an economical, solid detector with many quality features, including POP Detection, Stay Alert, Quiet, and Tutorial modes. The three user-selectable City Modes diminish or block the Pro58's X band sensitivity when engaged - this helps reduce the annoyance of automatic door openers and burglar alarm alerts. The 360 degree protection detects signals from all radar, laser, VG-2 and safety radar systems, whatever direction they come from. The vehicle battery saver mode is a useful feature, which automatically shuts off your detector after 3 hours if you forget to turn it off.

Whistler Pro58 vs. Pro73 There are two key differences between these models - the display and the audio alerts. The Pro58 has a symbol-based 7-segment display, while the Pro73 offers an easier-to read text display, in intense blue letters. The Pro73 also features superior audio alerts - while the Pro58 relies on various chirps and whistles to warn you of alerts, the Pro73 employs easy to understand Real Voice alerts. If you're comfortable "decoding" symbols and sounds on the fly, the Pro58 is a great option - however, if you'd rather just be told what the alerts are, in plain text or spoken words, then the Pro73 will probably be worth the extra money.
